Our beloved neighbor, Dharma teacher and friend, Cheri Maples has transitioned from this life. We can honor her passing by living our lives fully. We can continue her service for social justice and harmony among families, communities and make a difference in our world.
Thich Nhat Hanh ordained Cheri as a dharma teacher in 2008 in a ceremony called The Transmission of the Lamp, placing her in the 43rd generation of this lineage of teachers. The dharma encompasses teachings on love and understanding as a path of transformation. She composed this gatha – or insight poem – for her ordination.
