Eastside Friends of the Dharma is a group with an ethical purpose, fostering care and taking interest in the community following basic guidelines of Buddhist teachings – kindness, love, compassion, and wisdom.

Vision: An open-hearted community where everyone matters and belongs.
Mission: To foster a spiritual community that supports the awakening of our basic goodness and builds our capacity to benefit all beings.
Values: We embody the Five Mindfulness Practices, specifically Reverence for Life, True Happiness, True Love, Loving Speech and Deep Listening, and Nourishment and Healing.

Venerable Chodon is a Buddhist nun who has been teaching since 1990. She has studied and taught Dharma throughout the U.S. and internationally. She received her Bhikshuni ordination from Thich Nhat Hanh. As a teacher, Ven. Chodon uses gentle humor and practical examples to help others benefit from the application of Buddhist wisdom to daily life.
